New Generations

Photograph by Elliot Lowe, October 4, 1987

The Jung Family has stayed close and gathered together for family reunions and celebrations over the years. There is a detailed family tree, which I hope to help update with the newest family members, tracing the family back to Jung San Choy and his 13 children. With the publishing of Sandy Lydon's book, Chinese Gold in 1985, there was a great deal of family pride and appreciation for the detailed account and photos of Jung San Choy, his family, and his contributions to the Monterey bay area. Today, there is an annual Walk of Remembrance, to honor the early Chinese fishing community in nearby Pacific Grove. I am inspired to keep learning more and sharing with others about these pioneering Chinese immigrants to California.

My great-great-grandfather, Robert Jeong, the 5th child of Jung San Choy and Yeung So, and his wife Isabelle Douglas Jeong, at their 50th wedding anniversary in 1963.
